Mendoza is situated
at the foot of The Andes, is the most important city of the West of
Argentina. It is a major tourist destinations because of
the huge variety of activities available.
The climate of the region is
mild though the mountains provide a certain degree of aridity. The
temperature in Summer ranges from 18º C to 33º C (75 to 95 F) and days are hot and
nights are cool. In Winter, the minimum temperature is 3º C and the
maximum registered temperature is 16º C. (40 to 70F)
Mendoza is beautiful, with streets flanked by trees, squares and parks
and many water features.
In the city there are
walks to the five
principal squares and the civic centre tourists admire the culture, the history and the idiosyncrasy of
native people. It is also the starting point a huge range of outdoor
activities, adventure travel and high mountain sports such as climbing
Acongonoa the highest mountain in the Western hemisphere), hiking,
skiing, rafting etc.
In the
areas there is also many interesting places and towns to
visit: ruins of San Francisco Church, Maipú, El Challao, Villavicencio
Thermal Resort, Cacheuta, Potrerillos and Vallecitos.
The very well known "Ruta de los Vinos" deserves a special mention because tourists can
visit ancient cellars and taste excellent yields which are product of
carefully chosen grapes. |

University de Congreso is a top private
university in Mendoza., Argentina's wine country. The university has a
strong liberal arts curriculum,including degrees in Int'l Relations, Business and Journalism, among
others. Universidad de Congreso has an international focus and require
all local students to study foreign languages. Universidad de Congreso
is ideally situated in a central residential area of Mendoza with the
most happening parts of the city nearby.
The University of Congreso is recognized by the Argentine
Ministry of Education as a degree granting institution of higher
learning.
The Spanish language courses
for international students at Universidad de Congreso are taught at the
intercultural institute of foreign languages.

Dates
New Spanish courses start usually the first Monday of each month for all
levels. There are Spanish courses available throughout the year.
Academic Credit
Most students earn 3 - 4 semester units for each 4-week
Spanish course completed and 12 - 15 semester credits for each semester
abroad program completed. If you are in a college or university and
would like to receive academic credit at your home institution, you will
have to pass all the Spanish courses, and most institutions require a
grade of 'C' or better before granting credit for an overseas course.
This is a
well-known university and it is highly likely that your
university will give you course credit for our programs.

Individual Apartment
Having your own
private flat is a great option for students who want to have more
privacy and freedom to have guest over. Each student apartment has a
fully equipped kitchen and usually telephone service available. If not,
you can make your phone calls from one of the many phone boxes or "locutorios".
What is included:

take care of their own meals.
- A refundable deposit is required.
- A down payment might be required to confirm your apartment reservation
particularly in high season (June-August and December-February).

neighborhoods with easy access to public transportation. Unlike in the US and other countries, there are not apartment
buildings solely for students in Argentina. Apartments are located in
residential areas throughout the city.
This housing option is also available in
Cordoba, Mendoza and Patagonia.
Option 2:
Shared Apartment
You
can choose between 2 and 3 bedroom apartments which you share with other
students - Argentinean or foreigners (depending on availability). It is
ideal for those who enjoy contact with other students from different
parts of the world. We always do our best to accommodate you in a
student flat with an Argentinean student in order to help you improve
your Spanish speaking habbilities. This option is a great way to meet
new friends and is an unusual housing option for study abroad programs
in
Argentina.

Family Homestay
Feel at home away
from home. GIC Argentina has a network of more than 100 warm and
welcoming host families that enjoy hosting foreign students. Living with
a host family is a great way to practise your conversational Spanish and
to how we Argentineans live. We carefully choose our host families based
upon their ability to provide students with a friendly, safe and
comfortable home. Many of our students keep in touch with their host
families long after they return to their home countries.
