Tennessee is in the middle-southeastern section of the US. We are located near Knoxville, the 3rd largest city of Tennessee, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most-visited national park in the US. Maryville is a small town that is both safe and beautiful, with many lakes, rivers and forests nearby. The College is very safe and very much like a large park.

School

This is an intensive English program associated with Maryville College, a four-year liberal arts school offering bachelors degree Maryville College is accredited to award degrees in the US. Students are awarded credit towards degrees at Maryville College for their language study in the CELL program; one credit is earned for each five-week session completed. This credit is NOT transferable to other schools (in general, intensive English programs in the US do not award credit for courses.)

Maryville College is a 4-year liberal arts college offering bachelors degrees in over 35 areas, including business, computer science, economics, biology, chemistry, literature, sociology, and other fields. It is a small school of about 1100 students, with all of them receiving close individual attention.

The school offers the full range of programs to all internationals- participation in school groups such as music groups, sports teams, clubs, etc.

Best time to come

Our program runs year-round and there are good/bad points about any season. We have four very clear, distinct seasons. Many prefer the time from April through September, to enjoy the swimming and hiking in the lovely Great Smoky Mountains. But every season has different strong points. The English program runs year-round, so any time is good.

Dormitories: we have 6 dorms in which most of our American students live. So the students will be living around Americans to get great chances to practice English. There are usually 2 students in each room.

Apartments: we do not provide any service, so it’s not recommended for NEW students but some long-term students find apartments nearby and live by themselves while going to school.

Homestay: students here for 2 sessions or more can request a homestay, to begin AFTER their first five-week session. We have several great families in Maryville who welcome the students.
